Programs sponsored by the IPC

Listed below are some of the prevention and intervention programs that the IPC sponsors:

Project Success at the Middle and High Schools

Counseling for referred students in grades 7-12 (800 students annually)

Short-term, solution oriented focus (8-10 sessions)

Alternative to Suspension programs (tobacco, alcohol and other drugs)

Project Success Elementary Counseling Assistant Program

Small group counseling or skills development and classroom presentations (approx. 4,000 students annually)

Second Step (social skills curriculum) and STAGES (coping skills curriculum)

Irvine Family Resource Center

Family counseling for referred parents and youth in grades K-12 (150- 200 families annually)

Short-term, solution oriented focus

Hours by appointment, including late afternoon and evening

Irvine Prevention Coalition Mini Grants

Seed money to members of the IPC to increase prevention services for youth

Twelve participants in 2005-06

Irvine Prevention Coalition Student Board

After school program connects youth with IPC partners and their programs

IPCSB members identify, coordinate and host/implement prevention projects/programs

IPCSB members coordinate and host the Youth Service Awards

Environmental prevention, youth development and social norms marketing

Youth Leadership Academy (YLA)

After-school program for students at Creekside High School

Five, 5 week sessions per year from 1:15 – 3:00 pm; includes lunch (no food service at Creekside) 

Leadership training, counseling support, and community service learning opportunities

Irvine Family Fun Fair & Fun Run

Annual community event designed to promote health, wellness and safety

Outstanding Supporter of Prevention Awards

This is our unsung hero award as it honors those individuals and organizations who do the hard work of prevention and intervention all year long

Nominations are received from citizens throughout the community

Red Ribbon Celebration

Annual prevention awareness campaign observed each year in October

Student Service Awards

Annual recognition of youth who contribute to the community
